Stuck on restart....

Hi All

This seems a fairly recent problem with my machine.
Whenever the machine updates something (recently it was iTunes but I've also had other updates requiring a restart) and then requiring a restart the machine shuts down, the AlienWare logo then comes up on the screen with the progress bar.  The progress bar gets about 2/3 of the way along and then seems to get stuck.  I have tried leaving it there for up to 20 minutes but it will just not move.

This problem resolves itself if I switch the power off at the board, back on again and reboot and the computer starts fine.

Anyone know why this might be occuring?

Machine :
Area 51-ALX
Dual ATI 5900HD's in XFire
256GB Solid State HD
1TB Storage drive (standard HD)
12GB 1800 DDR3 RAM
Core i7 995 (I think) overclocked to 3.7GHz

Unplug everything except mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

Remove OC on processor and video cards (write down settings first)

    Then try it.

Also, check your Event Viewer logs for errors during the bad shutdown or startup periods.
