NO i didnt install chipset drivers first!!!:(:( can you please tell me what i have to do in order and also i thin k i recently misplaced my Windows restore cd that came with my 4700 i could find it btw can anyone explain me what i need to do
OUCH! Okay, the chipset drivers are installed to the mobo and govern the proper installation of the subsequent drivers. It's likely you'll have to reinstall Win XP and all the drivers, again! Is the Windows XP reinstall CD the one that you have misplaced, or the CD with all the system drivers?

Ok i think ican find the drivers cd and i left my xp cd in my cd case at someones house but i will get it...by the end of the week hopefully:( but can you like make a step by step guide?- actually, on installing the chipset drivers is not that hard to do. just turn on your computer, insert the CD (not the operating system CD on the drive). And a window will pop up. look for the chipset something. i forgot the process actually. but try to explore and read before clicking something. you won't get lost on that..

First question what does a chipset do? secondly what do i have to do to get rid of my problem- chipsets are a group of chips on your mother. It controls some components of your motherboard like your PCI express controllers (if available), memory controller, AGP controller. I can't name everything.. Hence, it is logically and required that you install the chipset driver first before anything else. Install the chipset driver first, then restart your computer. then install the video driver. then sound, etc...

Per Intel, an XP system can be updated at anytime if the chipset is supported:

When you installed all the drivers after Windows, did you install the chipset drivers first, before all others, followed by the desktop support software? These items need to be installed FIRST!
