B110 fan problems
About a week ago my fan (I believe it's the CPU fan) started running much louder than normal. Some days it's louder than others, but the past few days it has been especially loud. I opened the task manager to see if anything was using all my CPU power, and it looked like System Mechanic 7 was, so I uninstalled it, but today I'm having the same problem. I turn the machine on, everything is fine for a few hours, then the fan starts getting louder. Everything else is working perfectly, no problems at all, but this loud fan is really getting to me. I dusted the fans out the best I could, but that didn't seem to take care of the probelm. Any suggestions? I asked my brother about it and he said the temperature of the room my computer is in can cause the fan to run louder, and it when the problem started was our first really warm day, but that doesn't sound right to me. Anyone have any idea what I should do?

I just did that, and it is running quite a bit quieter now, but still louder than I remember it running.As for where the case is located...my desk sits against my bedroom wall, and the case beside that, though there is space between the wall and the case. I really have no other place to put it.shesagordie

Is there at least 6"+ between the system's back panel and the wall?
You could replace the fan, if the system is under warranty, then contact Dell, for a replacemnt fan, no warranty, then you can buy the fan from Dell Spare Parts.

Is the case located in a well ventilated space, especially the back panel area?
When you cleaned the fan, did you also, open the case and clean the dust from the heatsink and the air intakes in the front panel?
