CD Eject problem
I have 2 cd-related problems with my ME-based Dimension.
1. When loading a cd-rw, I do not always get a "CD Ready" message and find that I have to right click on my cd burner icon and then left click on "Eject". This displays an error message but allows me to eject if I want to do so. The eject is successful and I then can load the CD-RW successfully which will display the appropriate message that the CD is ready for use. The problem occurs every other time.
2. Trying to "Save As" a MS Word document onto a CD-RW, it sometimes results in the attempt failing due to the CD burner not being found, although I am able to open the cd-rw and see items in it.
I have tried using the Dell help desk but after 4 hours of "assistance" which ranged from inept to rude to abusive, I have just about given up.
I should mention that I have tried restoring my system to a previous date which was unsuccessful since that the last date identified was not usable. The Dell technicians also had me reprogram my start-up menu which made the system inoperable and still does not run well since they were unable to help adequately reprogram the start-up menu to where I originally had it before I called them. [I still don't know if I have the correct start-up settings since I didn't write it down before they had me change it.]
I had excellent help before the call center moved to India. Now, ...
