computer not starting up
when i reconnect my power cable the computer starts up by itself and the power button is orange. The computer doesn't start up all the way. When I press the power button the computer turns off and then won't turn on again when I press the power button. Could this be a problem with my power supply?
- what system are you using? have you tried calling Dell Tech Support? Usually they will ask you the common indicators such as the ABCD lights at the back, will check for the power indicator at the front of the tower, will have you remove the monitor's video connector to the back of the tower, will have you check the fan if its spinning, will have you remove expansion cards, remove the memory modules/ram cards, ide controllers. These troubleshooting steps will determine what will be causing the problem. Be sure to check the indicators and the beep codes as well.. Dell Tech Support can help you intepret those codes.

(May differ with your system)
Take out all unnecessary PCI\AGP cards.
(Leave in the video card if not integrated)
Clear the BIOS... (usually with a jumper, you'll want to follow your docs on how to accomplish this...)
Check the ABCD lights and try to match them with anything in your documentation.
Any beep codes at power up?
Check to make sure all your memory is seated correctly on the MB, all drive cables re-seated to the MB\controllersand all connections to the power supply are seated correctly.
Sheck to see if the fans spin up when you try to boot it up.
When in doubt, refer to your system docs... They should also be available on this site somewhere if you need to access them...
