cpu upgrade/power supply

I'm considering upgrading my 8100 1.3 Williamette with PowerLeaps upgrade adapter and 2.6 Northwood processor. I'm wondering if it's necessary to upgrade my power supply as well. I'm not sure what comes with the Dimension 8100, but I suspect it will be a 250W power supply. I've added a second harddrive and upgraded the video card to a GeForce 5200, all other parts are as originally came with the computer.

    bomberrr,

The power supply you have will work fine with the Powerleap upgrade.  The 250W supply
is conseratively rated and is more like a 350W.  Many users have used the Powerleap
upgrade sucessfully with the stock power supply.

What Skybird said, plus, the earlier models of the 8100 came with a 330w power supply before it was changed downward to a 250w.

I agree that your current PS will be fine for the upgrade.
