Dell Precision 390 - RAM options
Hi all,
I want to add to the RAM in my Dell Precision 390. The user manual notes "Memory Type" as 533-MHz and 667-MHz ECC and non-ECC DDR2 SDRAM. It also shows memory capacities as 512 MB, 1 GB, or 2 GB.
Does this mean that I definitely cannot use 800MHz DDR2 RAM and 4 GB DIMMs? Or are these specifications just recommendations and in fact the motherboard can handle the faster/larger RAM?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi acs131,
We recommend always checking with Crucial, which says that each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 2GB per slot. So DDR2-800 is fine, but 2GB modules max.
