Dimension 3100/E310
Ok...newbie here...I have a Dimension 3100/E310 that has been diagnosed as having a "bad system board" by a 3rd party company. That cost me $79.00. I've spent an hour and a half talking to the Philippines and India. NO ONE can get me a customer service agent here in the US. (BTW...I've been in customer service for about 8 years) I've been online with an off-shore agent. Anyway...my question is...is this normal or acceptable for a computer that is 14 months old? I know...I know...I should have bought the 3yr warranty. Hindsight is 20-20. Any idea what that part would cost? Should I try and push to have Dell repair/replace. Should I just buy a new box? Ok...fire away....and thanks for your help.

- No more warranty, I would consider going with E-Bay to find another motherboard, cheap, or just save for another better system. Perhaps a system from Dells Outlet store. Nice systems with the better technology, for about $450.00 on up without montor, and you get a warranty.Does this happen from time to time, and the answer is yes, but have not heard of one for a while.

Parts can fail at anytime, hence the reason for extended warranties.
You can buy a replacement motherboard from Dell Spare Parts or from eBay.
