Dimension 4300
I am about to confirm my order for Dimension 4300 with Windows XP Home Edition and Works 2001. I am informed by Sales Rep that there will be a Application Back-up CD factory installed covering XP and other programs. BUT no separate CDs for XP or any other programs. Is it true? How to handle the situation when one has to re-installed the XP etc. How many CDs I am suppose to get with 4300? Ask me any questions about the choice of my configuration.

- Hello Denny,
This is what I am intending to order. I am flexible-please make suggestions:
4300,P4,1.6GHz, Dell Quiet Keyboard, Intellimouse, 512MB SDRAM, V.90 56K Data/Fax modem, Herman/Kardon speakers, SB Live 1024 voices sound card, Dell Application Back-up CD, 64MB nVidia Geforce2 w/tv out, Trinitron 19" P992 monitor, 3.5" floppy drive, 40GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive, Free Norton Antivirus 2002 (in fact I am not going to use it) Windows XP HOME, 10/100 Fast Ethernet NIC (I am on cable) Free Upgrade 16x DVD-ROM Drive, Works Suite 2001 STD, & 3 Years full on-sight etc Warranty.
How do you feel about this set up? I have to swap HP CD-RW from my current Dell M233 to new 4300. As I had installed the CD-RW myself in my current Dell I will have no problem in doing it again in 4300. Unless there are any special requirements to do so in 4300. If so, then please let me know.
I have no use of Office XP Small Business Edition but if there are serious problems with the programs in Works Suite 2001 and Windows XP Home Edition then I will go for Office XP SBE. Do you have any comments here?
How many CDs I am suppose to get with my configuration? any idea? Where can I get this information? or do they give less to Canadians?
Many thanks,
Kanti

Kanti,
If you are getting the HK-695 speakers, I'd recommend upgrading to the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card to do them justice.
I received one blank CD-R with my system.

- Hi Denny,
Many thanks for your suggestion. I do agree with you and going to order for HK-695 speakers and Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. I think it is worth spending little more and get the better speakers and a sound card.
You don't have any comments on 4300/XP/HP CD-RW 9350i combination? I understand XP has its own audio cd burning program. Right?
BTW I always enjoy watching your beautiful graphics.

Just got mine and it included:
Office XP CD
Easy CD Creator reinstallation CD
Resource CD for Device Drivers, Diagnostics, Utlities
XP Reinstallation CD
Dell-Installed Programs CD
Monitor Setup CD
Sound Card CD
Modem Reinstallation CD
Your group of CDs may vary, but everything is there that you need to restore your system from a totally empty hard disk.
