Dimension E521 problem
Hello,
My e521 is having a problem. The front power light won't function properly. Instead of green, it's solid orange-ish. Nothing I know of triggered this, it was just happening after work when I got home. Is there any way to fix this problem? I know there isn't much info here to work with but it's hard to try and fix something that just sits there, dormant.
- I've done those steps you listed and no response. The diagnostic lights are unresponsive, at least that I can see. They don't flash any colors when I power on, they are lit up amber (all four)m but that may be just due to the amber LED.
Message Edited by WeezyF on 11-30-2007 07:05 PM - If all the light indicators on the back of the computer tower are litup as amber it means that there's a possible BIOS failure of the motherboard. Try removing the memory modules on the motherboard and turn on the computer let's see if the motherboard would response that there is no memory detected on the motherboard, for this we could isolate the problem and determine the root cause of the problem.

Well I got a new power supply. I hooked up the cables. The power supply is working as you can hear the fan going and the blue light. But when you push the amber light same results. Won't come on line. I'm not going to buy a mother board. I've got $500 invested in this Dell 521 and I'm ready to junk it!

A solid Amber power button LED could indicate a memory problem.
Remove and then reinstall the memory modules.
Remove and then reinstall any cards.
Remove and then reinstall the graphics card, if applicable.
Ensure that all power cables are securely connected to the system board.
Check the Diagnostic Lights on the front panel
