Direct Memory Access
On my Dell 8100, Direct Memory Access (DMA) is disabled on generic IDE disk type properties. For Dazzle video capturing programs like MGI Videowave-80, it seems it should be enabled. I wish to know whether it is compatable with my equipment like controller, hard drive, CD ROM drive etc. if I enable DMA? Thanks

Hi,
Your system and drives can and will use DMA. Just check the box and restart.

- Thanks for the tip. My Dimension 8200 has been running extremely slow apparently related to DMA. I tried to defragment and checked for adware/spyware, but to no avail. I installed the Intel Application Accelerator and now it is running like it used to, about 10X faster.
