Error Message

Every 30 to 40 minutes an error message reading, " An error occured communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning device is connected properly and try again." What do I do to trouble shoot to find what is giving me the problem?

What devices do you have connected to your computer?  Which version of Windows are you running?  What programs are running when you get this error.  Some more details would be helpful here.

I am receiving the same error message.  Did you ever get an answer to your question?

Sounds like your scanner is going into 'sleep' mode and your OS doesn't know how to handle it.

If you answer the questions above about your OS, machine, devices, etc., then you would probably get a better reply.

If you went to your mechanic and said 'my car goes erp, erp - what is the problem?' would you expect him to rattle off the exact cause of your problem? You can't analyze something with no information.

In my case, we recently attempted to network our Dell Laptop in order for it to be able to print on our hp psc 2210 all-in-one printer, fax, scanner, copier that is connected to my desktop Dell B110.  We now receive the above error message on both computers.

I forgot to mention that I am operating using Windows XP on both the desktop and the laptop.

Check the manual for your multi-function device and see if there is a seting for 'sleep mode' or a 'low power' option. If there is, turn it off and see if your problem goes away.
