Event log in BIOS A13
Hi all,
Have a Precision Workstation 420 for a few years and worked great til now. BIOS A13 at startup gives these messages:
Previous Voltage Failure !
Previous Hard Drive temperature !
Never did that before. It started to shut itself down when encountering these "voltage failures" I guess. Read somewhere that it is possible to try to read the "Event Log" in BIOS to help this situation.
Problem is I don't know how to reach this log. Went into the F2 Setup of BIOS A13 and never saw the "Event Log" or the Security System option they mention in Dell papers.
Can someone tell me how to reach this Event Log ? Is it available on A13 version of BIOS ?

I have cleaned the main fan, but I can't tell the status of the 2 remaining fans which are built-in the motherboard it seems... I have installed SpeedFan and it shows that the voltages are well below what they're supposed to be (I guess that the +5V reading should be near +5V ??).
So, I am thinking about dismantling the old 420 and keeping the good pieces to build something more up-to-date... I guess the repair cost would be too much.
It did give me very good services for the 5 years I had it.. it ran almost 24hrs a day since then.. so...
Interested in buying any parts ??

feorod, as interesting it could be to get to the logfile...
I'd be more concerned where the bad entries might come from and carefully check all voltages undisturbed airflow and the like.
To find out more, I'd start with a close visual check to fans and voltages and the like.
Also I'd think how recent my last backup is....
After such long service fans might be stuck with dustballs or spin at slow speed.
As we have summer now, overheating is quite likely.
May be after some hours of runtime a diagnostic session on a hot machine could give more results.
