GX280 and 4GB memory

GX280 with BIOS A08.
All 4GB from 2 matched pairs of
1 GB modules recognized by the BIOS.
Neither Win nor Linux get more than
3 GB.
I realize that space is taken up for
PCI/VGA allocation but 1 GB is excessive.
When will Dell bring out A09?
(There are anyway Intel microcode updates)
 
(The server 2850 had this problem before
 a BIOS upgrade)

    Here is some information about this.

    You could consider upgrading to an x64 version of your OS. This should allow seeing the whole 4GB.

    This is from a 64-bit Linux :-)
    (And the MTRR addresses are quite clear)

    That link is 6 (!) years old and applies to kernel 2.4.
    We are talking current 2.6 and x86_64 here.
    The BIOS is only making ca. 3GB visible
    to the OS.

    Note that
    BIOS problem in that the space between
    0Xbf686c00 and 0X100000000 is BIOS reserved.
    Difference between these is (decimal)
    1083675648 bytes ! :-)
