Precision 340 EEPROM failure detected
I have three Precision 340 (1.7 GHz, 1GB RDRAM) that failed with error message indicating a RIMM needed replacing (uncorrectable memory error detected). In the Dell Diagnostic program that showed up as Error Code 2F00:0419, System Memory failure. I obtained a RIMM from Dell, and installed it. So far, no big deal. Now, however, when I run the Dell Diagnostic software, it says
Error Code: 3B00:0120
Msg: EEPROM failure detected.
Expected a 'data' checksum of B7B6h but found 4BF5h.
I phoned Dell technical support and they suggested resetting the NVRAM. I did that and the same error appeared. Dell technical support suggest I re-seat the RIMM and clear the NVRAM *again* and I did that and the same error appeared.
Anyone ever encounter this? What is the solution?
