Yes, please give us the order number to be able to order it with this chipset.

(this may start unrelated, but hopefully becomes clear why this is a bit long (I feel that if I don't show how I got to my assumptions some questions may arise))

I have a 1705 and was wanting to install XP x64 (I have the Core2 T7200, which has EM64T support).

Dell hasn't certified this OS for this laptop, so I started looking for alternative drivers. The chipset is easy; you get that from Intel. Same goes for the 3945 wireless Intel nic.

The videocard was a bit tricky, as Nvidia doesn't offer 7x00Go drivers for x64. I found that on the Dell 32-bit downloads the list of supported devices included the M90's video options. I know that the Precision range has been certified for XP x64, so I figured I'd try the M90's video drivers for x64. These worked fine for my 7900GS/Go. This led me to try the Dellsoft software for the M90 x64 and this worked fine too.

For the touchpad I found version 8 on the web, which supports x64 (don't remember where, but found it with a Google search for synaptics x64 or something like that).

The only one I couldn't find a driver for was the Dell 355 bluetooth device.

I opted to look into partnumbers for other solutions that the M90 did have drivers for and found that the 1705 and M90 share several pieces of hardware.

The Dell 350 bluetooth has x64 drivers (from the M90), and it shares the same partnumber with the 1705's 350 bluetooth option.

As Intel finally came out with a wireless 'N' solution (the Dell offering doesn't have very good Linux driver offerings, so as I'd like to use Linux as well, I prefer to stick with Intel wireless options), and Dell offered this on new 1705 models, I started looking into that as an upgrade option.

This is when I started looking into comparing options for the M90 and 1705 and found that they share the same partnumber for the 3945. So if that card matches between those 2 systems, the 4965 should also match. As the 1705 was offered with this card, the 1705's option should also fit in the M90.

In other words, if you get the 4965 for the 1705, it'll most likely work just fine in the M90.

Wow. Thanks for this info. Glad I found this. I have a Precision M90 on the way, and had ordered a refurbished Dell 1500. This is better (and cost only a few bucks more).
