Replace parts or not?

I'm confused... Many times I hear people saying that they put in new parts, but Dell has told me that if I put in new parts, it voids the warranty. What am I missing? Are those people breaking the warranty, or can you somehow put in new parts without breaking the warranty?

The only part that won't be warranteed is the part you put in.  Everything else is still under warranty.  However, if the part you installed messes up another part of the system, that will not be warranteed either.  We install memory, hard drives, video cards, other optical drives all the time, and this will not void the warranty.

Trust us on this one.... Some tech support personnel from Dell really don't know what they are talking about, if that is what they said to you...   :smileytongue:

Oh my gosh thank you so much! I'm gonna run right out and replace my crummy onboard graphics. Any suggestions for a PCI slot card?

Best pci slot card is the 6200.  First, however, tell us what model system do you have now......
