Shutting down computer

Several times when i have tried to shutdown my computer, it doesnt shut down all the way and the only thing i have been able to do is unplug the power, then plug it back in. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong??

There is no reason to pull the plug.  Push the power button for 5 seconds or longer.

Most likely a program isn't shutting down.   Check to see what you have running in memory.  Start, Run, type Msconfig and go to the Startup tab.  Uncheck everything this list says you can: http://www.sysinfo.org/startupinfo.php
