Studio slim 540s startup issues
HI
My Studio Slim 540s does not always start as it should, some times directly after pressing the on button the hard drive appears to run up but then stops and the unit begins to bleep twice over and over, it may take up to twenty times before it starts up. This fault does appear to be intermittant as it may not re-occur for six or eight weeks.
If any one can suggest where I start looking I would be most grateful

i have a 540s that enters power save mode upon startup. can occasionally get past to safe mode but rarely.dusted out computer. Any ideas? Thx
I'd get a can of compressed air, open up the case and remove the front bezel, and thoroghly clean it out. Then, I'd remove all non-essential parts to determine if any of them were contributing to the premature sleep mode. Another idea is to reset the BIOS to factor defaults.

I'm not sure ... I have a 540s that I used for a year and it never had that problem.
I think two short beeps means the Power On Self Test (POST) failed. You might try reseating your memory and setting the BIOS back to defaults. (Press F2 to enter the BIOS setup.)
