System Bus Speed
I've recently purchased a Dell 8200 Dimension which came with 2.53Ghz CPU.
I went to system setup and found under the CPU information that the bus speed
is only at 133Mhz. (Is this the speed of the system bus?). The system suppose to come with the CPU with 533Mhz system bus, but I don't know how to verify that. Any idea where I can get the information for the system bus on my new Dell
as well as the exact motherboard/chip set types and models. I know that the system supports USB 1.1 but I am not sure if it supports USB 2.0.

I have the same question. In 11/02 brought a 8200 with 2.4 with 533 FSB and 256 PC800. The set-up program indicates a bus speed of 133 MHz. On the other hand, a 4550 I purchased for myself in 10/02 (2.53 with 533 FSB and 256 MB, 333 MHz DDR) indicates a bus speed of 533 MHz. An 8250 a friend of mine just purchased (2.4 with 533 FSB and 256 MB PC1066 RDRAM) indicates 533 MHz bus speed. What gives, did I get the 2.4 with 400 FSB, or as I ordered, i.e. a 2.4 with 533 FSB?

I understand the analogy perfectly, but do have a follow-up question. So if the 133 MHz bus speed signifies that I do have a 2.4 with 533 FSB, what would the bus speed for a computer (8200) with 2.4 and 400 FSB be? Would it show 100 MHz? Note that Dell did sell 8200's with 2.4 and 400 FSB. Since I ordered my computer in 11/02, I do want to be sure that I got what I was supposed to.

Kind of like 4 lanes on a highway and each lane is doing 70 mph ( oops...let's say 60 mph just in case any cops are listening ). You could say that the 4 cars each doing 60mph creates a traffic flow of 240mph. In other words the 4 drivers are arriving at a destination 4 times faster than if only one lane was available.
Confuse you enough?
