System Scan
Hello Everyone, I'm new to this site and fairly new to computers also, so I apologize if I don't know all the technical jargon yet. Today I had gone to the Dell Diagnostic site and did a quick scan of my computer. The results to me sounded pretty alarming. It said that I had:
90 Registry problems
1 Drive Corruption problem
1 Security Holes problem
2 System Clutter problems
2 Internet Clutter problems
My computer is an older model. Optiplex GX260, and it runs Windows XP Professional, and currently has 512MB. I need help in deciphering the problems I listed and what, if anything, I can do to correct the problems? I would hate to spend any money on these sites that advertize they'll clean all the problems for so much money and would like to know if anyone could recommend a free site that could help. I've seen some advertized, but being new to all this, I'm not sure what to choose? I would appreciate any and all help and I do apologize if I've posted my questions in the wrong forum. Thank you for any help you can offer me.

under all programs, accessories, program tools, try the disk clean-up feature. Then try disk defragmenter. Download the latest security patches from dell AND your antivirus program. Also try checking just what cookies are being saved by your internet service provider. The drive corruption? Unless something is not working, don't fix it!!! One good program I have on my xp is OLD TIMER version 3.1.9.0 and also I use Piriforms cc cleaner version 3.28.1913*****Hope this has been of some help. Usually a lot of temporary internet files can really clog up the works. As far as registry problems, thmost of those are probably just programs you have uninstalled over the years, and the shotcuts are still showing up with nowhere to go. There are programs for free that wil delete a lot of registry problems like that, I don't know of any offhand. Be careful of what you download, wait and see if anyone on here has had good experiences with a particular program. Hope all this helps!
Try OLD TIMER.com and cc cleaner.com

No not any specific problems, it just seemed as if everything was working slower than it usually does. I had used the Quick option for the test. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. If you have any other advice I would appreciate it very much. Someone has also replied and had suggested that I used a cleaner and I've forgotten which one he has suggested, I'll have to go back and copy it down.
