Two Problems

Hi I'm not sure how yet but I appear to have corrupted Vista. I have tried to boot from the Vista CD but as the pc starts up it says the keyboard is not being recognized so I can't tell it to boot from the disk (I can't get in to the BIOS) or select safe mode. The PC will continue to boot and then reports explorer stalling and then restarting and eventually getting to a point where it fails to get any further. My second problem (I've this problem for while)is with turning the PC on, sometimes the button and sometimes it wont. I'm not sure if it's a faulty button or not. I sometimes find that by removing the power cord for twenty minutes or so sometimes helps. I've reached the point that I'm considering getting a small new hard drive to install Vista again and then recovering the data from the main drive. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards Little Dobby

Hey a couple questions, have you tried another keyboard? Is the keyboard plugged into USB or PS2 (the round6 pin connection) ? If you are timid about opening the case and changing cables out then you should probably take it to someone with some experience doing so to replace the power switch that sits behind the power button on your faceplate. If your keyboard isn't working to even get into BIOS, definately either try another keyboard and/or check your connections to make sure that your cat/dog/brother didn't knock out the connection behind your computer. :)
