Windows 2000 Professional
Dear Technical Support,
I currently have a Dell Dimension B800 PC and love it to death. I do like Windows98, but want to know when I can upgrade to Windows 2000 Professional and still get full support from Dell.
I have Ravisent's Hardware Decoder Card and am aware that the Windows 2000 Professional drivers aren't available just yet. Do you know when they will be available?
Thanks!

- Unless you obtain an operating system upgrade as part of a provided upgrade program through Dell, operating system support must come from the manufacturer of the operating system, not Dell. Dell does not offer an upgrade path from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. As Erik stated, Windows 2000 is the upgrade for Windows NT 4.0.
The hardware on your system will still be fully warranted.

Forget Dell's support, it's only 30 days anyway. If you have a recent system, then just buy the retail upgrade CD and format and install Win2K. Make sure your hardware is on the MS HCL list on their site. There are several driver updates on Dell's file library as well. I installed Win2K on my XPS-R400 with absolutely no problem.
Satisfied Dell customer since 5-8-98 :-)
