AC Adaptor

My original AC adaptor became frayed and broken through years of use.  So I bought a PA12 family ac adaptor off of ebay....Dell brand.   It used to work just fine but lately it will not charge the battery and if it gets bumped then it either turns off or will switch to battery power of which there is only 1% left.  Is there anything I can do to fix this because I really don't want to buy a new cord.  Thanks!

It's likely the mainboard needs repair or replacement, but you might want to try a new adapter before going that route - the adapter is under $50, whereas a repair will run $150-200 or a replacement, $400-500.
