Advice on using wireless mouse

New 8600 (1 week).
Have bluetooth (and wireless networking).

Installed a Labtec wireless mouse and it worked fine; for a few minutes. Then puztttttttt.

Unplugged the USB reciever and reconnected, several times and it worked again, for a few minutes. Same story, time varies, always goes dead after it works for a while. System reports it's connected and working OK even after it stops. System reports internal bluetooth card OK.

(Now in all fairness, I have NOT tried the mouse on another system to rule out the mouse.) Try to sneak some time tomorrow.

Anyways, like some advice.
- Does anyone here use a wireless mouse with a Dell bluetooth without any problems?
- Anyone have a mouse that just uses the notebook's bluetooth and not need a separate receiver?

One further point. I bought a Kensington WiFi finder Plus and it does NOT light showing that bluetooth is in area (inches from notebook.)

- Shouldn't a new computer equipped with a Dell bluetooth card be sending a Bluetooth signal at all times? (Lighting the Kensington WiFi finder's top LED.)

If your not familiar with this little gem, see here:

Anyway I'm frustrated.

- Is the Bluetooth in the brand new notebook faulty?
- Is the brand new WiFi finder faulty?
- Is the brand new Labtec wireless mouse faulty?

Love the notebook by-the-way. Faster than lubricated atmospheric electricity (2 GHz Pentium M), sharp as a pin (15.4 inch widescreen with WUXGA, 128 MB- ATI), etc. Don't care too much for the keyboard though; I'm used to my Compaq's longer key travel, solid feel and more intuitive layout. I'll get used to it, but I'll never really like it. Too mushy for my taste.

I know, I know, it's bad when you answer your own posts.

Sitting here thinking about the mouse problem, been working on it since Monday. And then it hit me like a ton of lead (which of course weighs more than a ton of gold).

Was going over the day in my head. Get to the office, hang up my coat, take off my cell phone and lay it on the desk, power up the computer, get a cup of coffee, plug in the wireless mouse reciever, connect to the network and log on, read email & see what's new. During the course of moving the mouse, it freezes, random intervols.

    Everyone see it?

I will check it out tomorrow, but I have a feeling that's probably the answer. Never even gave it any consideration. Been doing this for years and just started using a wireless mouse.

... Lay cell phone on desk. When mouse gets to close .... (they both use same band of freqs and cell will send a signal to cell tower at periodic intervals) ...............
