Hi. I have tested all anitvirus software for 2008 and finished testing the 2009 products that are available. In 2008, Norton 2008 was the best. I know people hate it but it works. So far Kaspersky is the best in 2009. You will get a sperate cd for low jack I believe.

Eset NOD32, Kaspersky, Avira, G-Data AVK, Trustport, Symantec are all tested 100% effective by av-comparitives.org. McAfee is not as effective.

Symantec uses alot more system resources than NOD32

Kaspersky has been getting a lot of good press.

I have Norton 360 on all three of my computers and I think it's great, very well rounded program and lots of options. I've tried Norton, McAfee and BitDefender. Norton's at the top of my list. Once my M1530, I think I'll give Kaspersky a try, always have 360 to go to if Kasp. doesn't work out.

Don't be afraid to look at free products such as Avast and AVG. They are actually commercial products which are free for home use.

If you want a good content filter, use OpenDNS (free DNS which has a good content filter)

Use Comodo if you want a good free software firewall.

Use Thunerbird the free email client - it is advanced and very secure.

Use Mozilla Firefox with Security and Privacy add-ons installed.

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Regard

If you're happy to pay, then I agree that Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, or Eset Smart Security 2009, are undoubtedly the two best products on the market just now ;)

    Welcome to the forums. ;)

I've used Avira Antivir for all my Windows installations for about the last two years. I haven't had any virual problems yet anyway.

Generally, I'm not a fan of suites, but here is some info on those:

Independent testing body AV-Test.org has released the results of a major comparative of suite products, with many vendors' 2009 editions included in the results.
