I think you might have used  the download manager. Open your browser and flush you cache and cookies. Look in either add/remove or program and features depending on your OS an look to see if Dell download manger is installed. If so uninstall it.

Now when you go back to the Download page you should have the option to download via browser. Use this option. Make note of the download location so you can find the file when it is done downloading

I did all the above and I have no dell download manager and it still will not allow me to save it. All I get is install or cancel. How frustrating.

Which browser are you using?  I'm getting the options to save when using Firefox.

From the download site. I don't know the ftp site url and not sure I would be able to find the file there.

Hmm, I'm on my work system now using IE 7 and I see the option to save the downloads.     The ftp site is just ftp://ftp.us.dell.com .   You can either check your security settings in IE or maybe try Firefox?   Or, scroll through the ftp site to find the file directly.   But there are literally hundreds of files in the BIOS folder.   If you have the file name handy it shouldn't be too hard to locate in the BIOS folder, though.

I think I got the right file. I was surprised that the bios was dated later then when I got the computer and I have A06 now. I see the A07 and the A06 in the file and dl 1645_A06.EXE

No problem.  There usually is some lag time between when a BIOS update (or any driver for that matter) is released and when it gets included into the factory image put onto systems.
