Bluetooth Audio - Headset Problems.

I am trying to use a Bluetooth headset (Plantronics M1000) with the Dell LAtitude D600 laptop with the the internal Bluetooth Card.  The headset receives audio just fine, but any audo from the headset microphone to the laptop comes out all garbled.

Is the Dell Bluetooth compliant with Bluetooth Version 1.1?

Has anyone had this problem or have a suggestion?

    Users:

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

BlueTooth is separate from USB and wireless networking.  According to the specifications, this system is equipped with BlueTooth version 1.1.  Documentation on this standard may be found here.

Non-sequitur? Why do you mention USB & wireless networking?

This is the reason why there is a problem with the Dell Latitude D600 Bluetooth Module:

I have a desktop Dell PC with a Belkin F8T003 bluetooth adaptor. When I pair my Sony Ericsson HBH-65 headeset with this PC, the sound received at the other end during an MSN Messenger audio  conversation is clear and intelligible.

When I pair the same Sony Ericsson HBH-65 headset with the Dell Latitude D600, the sounds received at the other end during an MSN Messenger audio conversation is garbled.

When can I expect to receive a solution ?

Bob T -- thanks for the response.  However, the headset that I am using is compatible with the Bluetooth 1.1 specs, yet will not work with the Dell Latitude D600.  In reading other threads on the forum, there are many others who have the same problem.

Yet, if we use an external (USB plug-in) Bluetooth adapter, the headset will work fine.  This points to a software/driver issue in the Dell Bluetooth Audio Gateway / headset implimentation.  Is anyone at Dell looking at this?

    Hi All,

I'm also having the same problem with my LAT. D800. I'm using the Sony Ericsson HBH-200 Bluetooth Handsfree and the audio in doesn't work, audio out works fine. I've tried using it with the recorder and skype, the sound comes out garbled.

Is there any solution to this yet?

I downloaded the latest Bluetooth drivers for my system (Latitude D600) a couple of weeks ago from Dell and the garbled audio has now disappeared.

Perhaps you can see if there is an update for your system?

I am having the same problem with my Dell Inspiron 9100, whenever I try and use a bluetooth headset either the mic will be garbled OR the audio sent back to the headset will be.

Okay believe it or not I think I've tracked down the problem, it's down to DirectX acceleration.

I've found a workaround but it's a little clumsy and uses a fair bit of CPU (although the actual audio isn't using all the CPU, the program that fixes it for some reason uses CPU):

    1. Pair and connect your headset
    2. Hold down the Windows key and press R to get a "Run" dialog, type in DXDIAG and hit enter.
    3. One of the sound devices listed there (in my case it's Sound 1) will be for the bluetooth audio, drag the acceleration slider all the way to the RIGHT for full acceleration. This should now make the connection far more reliable.
    4. Minimise DXDIAG (don't close it or it'll set the acceletion back to normal), open up Task Manager (either press ctrl+alt+del) or click right mouse button on the Taskbar and click Task Manager, in the process window find DXDIAG and right click on it and set the priority to LOW. This should stop it from using up CPU resources when other applications need it.

This should work, if it doesn't I apologise but it's worked for me on my Inspiron 9100 with a JABRA BT200 Headset :)
