Computer Shuts down when ac adaptor is plugged in
I have an Inspiron 600 m since 2003. Last evening, I could not get the computer to turn on. I unplugged the ac adaptor and and the computer started fine. When I plug in the ac adaptor, I have two of them, the computer shuts down. The battery does not charge, or at least charges very slosly at best, when the ac adaptor is plugged in.
Anyone have a suggestion as two what might be the the problem? Thanks in advance

- I'm having the same problem with my 5160 - first I thought it was because there was an issue with my power cord because it wouldn't stay connect so I bought another cord. That seemed to keep it running on on AC power for a while, but then I started having the same problems. Now the darn thing won't turn on at all and it seems like the port is loose. When I am holding the cord in I get lights on the front but cannot get enough charge to turn on. I've gone through the entire self help section of the site and followed all their suggestions and nothing. My warranty expired this year, of course, and I'm more than a little frusterated with Dell and customer service at the moment.
- I have a Inspiron 600 that I purchase in 2005. Since I remove the battery for the recall my computer will not come on at all using the adapter only. If I put the battery back in it will try to booth up but turns off immediately. The Dell instructions say if you have a battery that is on the recall list remove it and use your computer with the adapter only. Well my is not working at all! Can anyone help me please. I need my computer!!!!
