CPU UPGRADE

I m using a dell inspiron 15 3521 laptop with core-i3 2375 processor with 2 gigs of ram. Can i upgrade the processor to core-i5 ??

my service tag number is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

    Since the CPU is soldered to the mainboard, you would need to replace both the board and CPU, making this a very expensive upgrade (that will also void your warranty).

    The 5521 uses the same mainboard as the 3521 and was available with the i5 CPU.

    But the 3521 is also available with an i5 configuration as i ca see in the pdf. what does they mean??

    The 3521 and 5521 use the same system board and the same CPUs.  The CPU isn't socketed -- it's soldered to the mainboard, so both the CPU and mainboard must be replaced to upgrade the CPU.

    What if I increase the RAM. Is it going to enhance my performance any how ??

    If you have a conventional hard drive, it may slightly boost performance - just not significantly.

    If you have an SSD, the impact of more RAM will be very little - in fact, if you're looking for the best you can do with that system, replacing the hard drive with an SSD is the single best upgrade you can make.
