Well he can't retrieve that deleted partition as it's now history but he can make a new one containing the diagnostic utility.

thanks for your replies...well seeing as i'm now out of luck in trying to get it back / installed in my laptop..my question now is do i even need it in the first place and is it even an integral part of my laptop? like i've said, i've replaced my hd and when i reformatted it, the dell diagnostic utility is gone.. nonetheless everything is working out fine..my major dilemma is will i be needing it in the long run? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..

For normal everyday purposes, you will not need the diagnostics partition. It is only if/when you have a problem and you need to approach Dell for solutions that it is needed as the Dell technicians will want to to run it.
