Desperately neee Drivers
My company supplied me with a new Latitude D505 with WinXP loaded. I desperately need to dual boot this system with Win98, but I can't find the necessary drivers to get everything working. I have 98 loaded, found a graphics driver on Intel's web site for the 855 chipset that's working okay, but I don't have access to most components, specifically PCI components.
In device manager, there are 7 "Other Devices" - Microsoft 3-Button Mouse with InteliEye, NEC USB UF000x, PCI Ethernet Controller, PCI FireWire (IEEE 1394), PCI Multimedia Audio Device, PCI Network Controller, PCI Universal Serial Bus. Also, under Hard Disk Controllers, Intel 82801DBM Ultra ATA Storsage Controller - 24CA is showing with an ! in a yellow oval. The hard drive seems to be working okay, but the controller's properties shows a resourse conflict (Code 15).
I really need to get this working, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

You might try the manufacturer's website (which, in some instances, may be Dell) for the hardware for which you're in need of drivers, but if they don't have anything, it's going to be hit-and-miss searching through Google, etc., if you expect to find much, and I certainly wouldn't hold my breath. Windows 98 is virtually extinct, and if the hardware/software manufacturer isn't supporting it, that's just about the end of the line.656

When I try that, none of the drivers I need are listed. I need video, audio, cd support and all the things listed in original post.

Yep, that's the way it is. Did you see the information below the image in my previous post? You may be out of luck.656

The real question is why do you think you need 98???Is it because you think SOME programs won't run on XP??? Have you tried these programs on XP???656

W-XP has a Compatibility Feature that takes care of much of the older software. The only thing I found that was not usable that way was an older version of McAfee(5.21). I had to buy a new set at Fry's, but got it for free except for the State Tax, using a New purchase rebate and an upgrade rebate. Dell did not design your model for W98SE and they are not going to furnish you drivers for it under that OS.656

Thanks for the suggestion. Most of that I've already found drivers for, but the biggest pain right now is that I can't find drivers for the CD_ROM drive or the external floppy drive.

Windows should have those in its files. Try uninstalling them in Device Manager and see if Windows will pick the drivers off on a reboot
