Does the notebook post while docked with the E dock alone?  If you remove the Iogear will the system post correctly? If you try the Iogear connected directly to the notebook do you notice the same problem?  Try to find out where the cause is, the notebook, the docking station or the Iogear.

Thank you for your reply; however, the IOgear KVM i'm using is DVi video connectors only.  The E6520 only has an external VGA connector, so i cannot hook the laptop directly up with the KVM.

Side note...  I've been using the the same IOGear KVM on a D820 Latitude with it's port replicator for many years without a problem.  During boot up, the POST shows just fine.

The problem here is we cant tell if this is a problem with the Docking station or the notebook.  If you have access to another e-port replicator test the notebook out with it.  If you have another E series Latitude try that on the docking station and see if the problem lies with the notebook or the docking station.

I have a similar problem. I ahve a E6420. When my laptop is docked and connected to a VGA screen, I see the POST, but not when using the DVI. DVI only start working once Windows is started. Sadly, I am using a Power-On password/Hdd Password/BitLocker Pin so I NEED to see my screen during POST. Btw, my laptop has the Nvidia card with Optimus enabled.

Unfortunately short of disabling Optimus or booting then notebook undocked there isn't much that can be done about this.

So, if I understand, the Intel carsd use VGA as monitor 1 during POST and DVI as second monitor, activated when booting into Windows, but the nVidia one use both connector during POST?

Thas is bad. I need the Optimus option and my screen image is blurry when using VGA. Is there any future fix that will be made to fix this issue? (Bios update, video card firmware update, etc.) ?

Only the Nvidia GPU uses the DVI. The Intel never uses it.  If Optimus is turned on the the default video card is the Intel card, Optimus will not kick in the Nvidia GPU until Windows has started. So as long as Optimus is turned on, the only video card that will work before windows loads will be the Intell card, and it will only use the VGA port.  This is working as designed for Optimus.

If you want the Nvidia GPU and the DVI line to be the default GPU before and after Windows loads, you must disable Optimus.

I have the same problem with POST and a dvi connected monitor on the APR.  This is a stupid problem to have.  I am not impressed, Dell!
