Depending on what happened, remove the keyboard and check under it - if there's any moisture present, clean it up before you power up the system.
However, if the system has sat with moisture inside and the battery in, the damage may already have been done.

Remove the battery (if you did not already do so) and be sure it's completely dry before you turn it on.
