INSPIRON 1420
Hey Everyone,
I have the Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop and I was wondering if anyone could give me some help as to what is wrong with my laptop and how I should fix it.
When I use it, the screen just freezes and goes black and then flickers with loads of different colours and then after a while it is fine and there is a sign that pops up saying the driver has failed to respond but has been like restored or something. This has happened a lot of times and then the screen just goes black and nothing happens causing me to have to shut it down by holding the on button.
On one occasion, there was a blue screen which said *Hardware Malfunction*. I didn't know what to do with that so I turned it off again.
On several other occasions, it said that the laptop was getting warmer than expected and i have realised that my laptop does heat up really quickly. What can I do to stop it from over heating?
So please can someone tell me whats going on with my laptop and what I should do with it.
Thank you to everyone and hopefully someone can give me the right answer:)
Dorothy

The video chip has failed and the mainboard must be replaced.
Dell extended the warranty on these by one year; contact them for repair.
