Inspiron-XPS

Has anyone received their Inspiron XPS yet? Mine is supposed to arrive Monday (3/8). I ordered the Extreme with 1 GB of memory and the 60 GB 7200 HD. Otherwise everything else was standard.

Mine's supposed to arrive Wednesday (3/10) - but I'm not holding my breath.  Same specs as yours.

    Hi KevDA:

According to UPS, delivery will be Monday to my office. I was not supposed to get it until 04/01 - 04/05. What gives with the super expidited delivery date?

I don't know for certain, but I can make a guess. I was checking the Order Status forum a little while back, and they had some pretty long lead times on anything with a P4 Extreme. A few Dimension XPS customers were worried about this, as it looked like they weren't going to get their boxes for a while. Then all of a sudden one of them said their order was shipping (weeks ahead of the estimates), and Samantha from Dell said it looked like they got some P4 EE chips in.

So my guess is Dell and Intel worked something out on getting the chips quicker, which in turn makes the turn around shorter.

Of course, I could be wrong, so don't take this as carved in stone...

I was asking a collegue about this and she said that there is a high demand for the EE Chip and its going to be hard to keep up with the demand

I did want that EE, but after looking at the bench marks and asking some friends of friends who have friends that know someone that they sat next too once. It really isnt worth the 800.00 if it was 150.00 or less, why not

Makes sense. Probably higher demand than Intel was expecting, given the price premium.
