LAN Problems

Hi,

I've been having problems with my LAN connection on my laptop (i'm home for spring break, so usually i don't use a LAN connection). I keep on getting the message that there's limited/no connectivity however i know that it should be working just fine because my laptop is connected to the same router my other computer is. I've reinstalled drivers. I've tried messing around with the speed and duplex values. My laptop is able to send out packets but it doesn't recieve any. Anyone have a solution or a suggestion as to what I can do? Thanks.

    reset power to your modem.
    try again.

make sure your portable is set up as dynamic for IP's and DNS.
Swap with a known good cable.

    Check network drivers.

What kind of IP are you getting?

Is there any security set up on the router? (mac filtering)

    release/renew your IP

If it's still not letting you online. and you have proper drivers.
And network settings are correct (youre not blocked VIA security)

One of two things are at fault here...

    Physical failure or malware.

If you can (back up all vital files), reload your OS and try again.
