Monitor Flickering Issues
Hello,
I am using Dell Inspiron 13R (N3010), the warranty expires on January 2012. (almost a year since I bought it)
I am experiencing issues with my monitor, in random moments, for just about 1-2 seconds, the monitor might flicker, because it usually happens so fast, I can't get my phone to record it. But it happens multiple times in a day. The flickering is like when your old TV got interference problems (maybe?).
When I brought it to the local Dell store, the staff told me to check using Dell Support Center Application. I already did that, and it shows no problem. I also did the check by booting to Dell Recovery Center (is it what it called?), seems to show no problems as well.
Other than this monitor flickering issue, sometimes I got an issue with overheating and the notebook turns off by itself and I have to wait a few secs before I can turn it on again. This causes me to bring portable notebook fan to every place I bring my notebook. Checked by booting to Dell Recovery Center, it said the notebook fans have no problem.
Because it happens randomly, I don't know what I should claim in regards to warranty, if I have to claim warranty.
Any suggestions on how I should handle this problem?
Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem (Dell N3010, i3, HD5400), started half an hour ago. I was connected to an external monitor. I disconnect that monitor but nothing. After 10 minutes the flickering is more rare. Maybe its a driver problem? I tried to move the laptop monitor but that doesn`t affect the problem. I will also appreciate if someone knows the answer and maybe some hints. Thank you.

In some cases, the flickering can be causes by the video cable being pinched which causes it to short out temporarily. If this is the case, replacing the video cable will fix it.
