If the card does display an image, be sure it's not just the screen - try an external monitor.  If the external monitor shows a good image, it's the display panel that is faulty.

If it doesn't, it's not the video BIOS but rather simply a failed card.

The problem happened immediately after I flashed the BIOS, so I'm sure that's the problem, and not the panel or hardware.  The card shows an image, but it's chopped up, as if horizontal rows of various sizes are moved out of place.  Hard to describe.  In DOS mode, or if I enter the laptop's CMOS, rows of text are here and there.  The letters themselves are whole, but just out of place, and some of the characters are changed, like capital letters when they should be lowercase and vice versa, and a home-plate shaped character for an underscore.  In Windows, I can only boot into safe mode or vga mode, and then rows of pixels can be misplaced, to where I can hardly see what I'm doing, but if I mouse over a button or a hyperlink or something, the thing I mouse over will display perfect when Windows redraws it, but if I move the window around, the pixels start screwing up.  Anyway, I'm going off on the problem, when the solution would be to just reflash it with version C6, if I could get it.  I'm sure someone out there might have this same card laying around.  I could be mistaken but I think the card comes from a Latitude D800 and not an Inspiron 8600.  I bought my card off eBay and put it in my 8500 and it worked fine, up until I flashed over it.  Why I did such a thing, I'm not sure.  I was trying to get widescreen resolutions to work via the external vga port, and thought the "correct" BIOS might help.  But if I knew about nvflash before I did so, I would have backed up the BIOS first.  But since I downloaded the windows executable from Dell to flash it, it did so automatically with no option for backup.  Anyway, if anyone has a D800 with the 5650 in it, please see what version BIOS the card is; if it is 4.31.20.52.C6, can you get the program nvflash and run it with the backup option, and post the BIOS or send it my way?  I'm out a laptop otherwise (unless I buy a new card, but I'm trying to avoid that option).  Thanks!
