Nvidia GeForce FX Go5650 users, Please Read.......
I have noticed quite a bit of Driver questions and or video driver issues with the Nvidia GeForce FX Go5650. The Dell default drivers only let the video card run @ 1/2 the memory and core clock rate (roughly 120 Mhz Core and 250 Mhz Memory) that Nivdia suggests for this card. This will result in poor game performance, and low scores on system utilities such as 3DMark.
If you are having these problems I suggest you use the Nvidia drivers from www.omegadrivers.net. These drivers are based on the latest Nvidia drivers and have some "extra" features such as clock speed and "overclocking" of the memory and core clock frequency as well as more cooling options such as always leaving your fan on (Note: You overclock @ your own risk and can damage your card and void your warranty if you do not know what you are doing). I run mine at 325 Mhz Core Clock and 593 Mhz Memory Clock with the fan always on and it runs quite cool and stable.
Before I used the drivers I ran 3DMark01 and only scored a 7800, then I installed the Omega drivers and re-ran the test and scored a 10,600!!!! Also I ran Half Life 2 before I installed the drivers and it would constantly stutter, now with the Omega drivers installed it runs great......
Now if you do not want to install the Omega drivers you can still get your clockrate up to standards by just editing the registry.
Nvidia drivers come with a very nice overclocking program hidden inside, called Coolbits. It is capable of offering you a 25% increase over stock speeds on both your gpu clock and memory, as well as OpenGL, Direct3D, and 3D Antialiasing settings. It is a very nice utility, and this tutorial will show you how to use it.......
Hope this helps.......
