Partition Question

For some reason my hard drive has been partitioned.  How do I go about removing this.  Any advice would be helpful.

Ok, are you using XP or Vista? For xp, you right click on My computer and then go to 'manage' from there you scroll down to disk management and then it will show you the HDD (this is probably the same on Vista) Then right click on the HDD listed near the bottom of the window and there should be an option to 'delete partition' Vista should be pretty similar. Hope that helps -Bowlen

I would be carefull with deleting that partition. It is probably your restore partition. I would HIGHLY reccomend not deleing that parttion if it is the restore partition.......

That's true, if it IS a restore partition, it's worth having. If it is just a D:/ drive and there is data on it.....DELETE IT!!!

Ok here is what I see when I do what you told me to do.

    1. There is 4 different Hard Drive Icons.  The first one says Partition Basic FAT Healthy (EISA Configuration 47 MB 39MB 82% No Fault Tolerance 0% Overhead

    2.  Partition Basic FAT 32 Healthy Unkown Partition 4.98 GB 178 MB Free Space 3% Free No Fault Tolerance  0% Overhead

    3.  Is the C Drive

    4.  Is the D Drive.  It's says its a back up with 12.20 GB It's an NTFS Basic Partition, It's Healthy with No Fault Tolerance and 0% Overhead.

I'm starting to think that my daughter started hitting buttons on my laptop because I know I didn't create them or order it like this.  Hopefully you can point me in the right direction.

No, No, No Thats what it is supposed to be. That is a normal HDD that has been partitioned to also have a D drive. Don't worry about the 2 smaller partitions. That is normal. The D drive is the backup drive so i would leave it alone. It's only 12 gig and it can save your computer if you screw it up. It's all good. Also....what Laptop are you using?
