Processor Speed Issue
My Inspiron 9300 1.6G CPU appears to be only clocking at 798 Mhz (according to PC Wizard 2005). I have tried setting power management to Maximum Performance, Always On, and manually setting AC power mode to disable any cycling back on resources. I have also tried setting in the BIOS (A04) the SpeedStep option to both settings (Enabled and Off), then saving and rebooting. PC Wizard 2005 still always shows CPU frequency of only 798 Mhz. How can I crank this up to always be at the full 1.6Ghz?

To doublecheck I suggest you use the Intel® Processor Frequency ID Utility.

Yeah, I hear you, but I'd feel a lot better if I could see the undisputed fact of the matter. Maybe Windows only reports what the speed SHOULD be in a certain mode. Maybe PC Wizard actually MEASURES the clock speed. Too many "maybes" and "probablys". I'd just feel better if I knew for sure what the actual processor frequency was at a given time.
Thanks for the reply.

Original XP install. Here's the odd part... PC Wizard reports 798 Mhz, but Control Panel -> System -> General reports a 1.6G running at 1.6G. If I unplug the AC, then System -> General reports CPU at 798 Mhz. Maybe PC Wizard is ill-advised or incompatible with this processor?? Which one DO I believe!
