This is a Latitude 620 that I plan to reimage. Dell has kindly sent me a disc to restore the O.S., and they've sent me a link to a page with full instructions for the procedure. Of course the first thing I'll do is make backups of my data. My stupid question is this...will I lose my programs, like Microsoft Office, Power DVD, Windows picture and fax, Quicken, etc? Is there a way to save them? How would I get them back? Thanks for any advice

There are migration software packages out there to do just what you want - take a copy of the things installed on your machine (all of them or selectively) and either migrate them to another computer or restore after you reinstall the OS. However, I can't recall any free ones - they are all commercial and besides, if problems with your current software is the reason you want to reinstall in the first place, it may be a good idea to do a clean reinstall for them as well.

Yes, everything will be wiped clean. There's no way to "save" installed programs - once you have the system back running Windows, you'll need to reload each program from the original installation media (CD, DVD, etc).
