Hello there,
I was wondering if I could replace my current i7-2630qm for a faster i7-3740qm? The socket is the same!
I am working on a Dell XPS 15 L502X from september 2011! (motherboard model: 0NJT03)

No - this will not work. Yes, the sockets are the same - but Ivy Bridge (the newer one) requires a mainboard redesign vs. the Sandy Bridge ( your current CPU).
