Safely remove hardware

I have an Inspiron 15 3521. I never get a Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray with a Sandisk mp3 player and various USB memory sticks installed.

I wonder why I don't see the option?

I have icons In the system tray. USB devices don't appear. I see power, Dell touchpad, Bluetooth devices etc. When following the steps indicated the options aren't available to me. I did click the system tray then Customize, no specific option there for USB devices.

    Hi stelcom66,

Please follow the steps below to get the icons in the system tray.

Right-click on the Taskbar, Ensure that "Lock the Taskbar" is not checked.

Select "Properties" and the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window is displayed.

Under the "Taskbar" tab, check the "Hide inactive icons" box.

The "Customize..." button is now active.

Click "Customize..." and the "Customize Notifications" window are displayed.

In case the "Safely Remove Hardware" item doesn't show under Current Items, scroll down to the "Past Items" group and you should see it there.

Set this to "Always show", and click "OK.

I hope you find this useful.

    Hi stelcom66,

I am sorry for the delayed response; please let us know that the USB device is detected and if it is working?  Also in windows 7 the USB icons are not available in the system tray notification area; there will be a separate icon for the USB device will be available in the system tray.
