My Latitude cpiA died, so I bought a second-hand one because I like the machine so much.  The replacement worked fine for a while, then I noticed it did not recognise the battery (which was fully charged) and only worked on the mains.  Now when I switch on, it asks me for a primary or administrator  password on a grey screen. 

 

I never set a password in the first place.  Looked at the net, tried the suggested 'Dell' password, no luck. 

 

Any suggestions?

 

The tag # is VBYX0

 

Any help woudl be much appreciated.
