The 1280x800 (WXGA) was the standard screen on the D800 and changing Video Card will not
change the number of pixels installed in your screen.

Dell installed the nVidia FX Go5650 (128MB VRAM) as the top Video Card for the D800. <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

N1539 128-MB NVIDIA NV31 is the p/n listed in your D800 Service Manual.

You may also have some other possible options, but some have reported needing to also
install the last version of the Motherboard for some Video Card use.

(I85-86k's & Precision M60's are D800 clones except for Video Cards and other details.)

My D800 came with the '5650' installed and I have not only never changed anything, I have
never installed the latest Video Driver (issued last July) due to reported 3D problems.

You could telephone (no website) Dell Spare Parts, 1 (800) 372-3355 or shop eBay with caution.

You would want to make sure that the Video Card you order will work with your Motherboard
or plan to replace it as well. The screen you have now should work with any Video Card.

The reason I'm looking for an update is because i need to install Windows Vista Beta2 and w/o at least 128 Mb, Aero functions won't be available.
Here's what Upgrade advisor reports on my system:

Do you think upgrading to GeForce 5650 will fullfill above requirements (I don't know card characteristics)

All I know is that the 5650 has 128MB of dedicated Video RAM and that it works great.

Probably the most demand I put on it is GoogleEarth and that is a breeze for it,
I run various Resolutions from 960x600 to 1920x1200 but you will be limited to
your current 1280x800 with your WXGA Screen.

The higher resolutions show more detail and make everything smaller to fit on
the same 15.4" screen.

All I know about Vista is that it will be a very long time before I will even
consider using it. I had jumped (with reason) to Win98 the day it released and
very much regretted not waiting at least six months.
