Today for no apparent reason (no config changes, software installs, etc.) the tracking on my touchpad has developed a "black hole" of some sorts. If I start at the bottom center of the touchpad and slowly move straight up the pad, the cursor tracks due north, but about 2/3 of the way up the pad it starts heading north-east for awhile, while my finger is still going due north. After heading north-east for a couple of inches on the screen, it starts tracking north-west, until it gets back to the middle of the screen... at which point it goes back to heading due north. The same tracking pattern appears on any vertical slice I trie (e.g. left side of the pad, right side of the pad, etc.)

If I tried to draw a straight line with a graphic program it would look (crudely) like this:

Power offs and reboots don't help. The touchpad looked clean, and cleaning it didn't seem to help. Adjusting the sensitivity also didn't have any affect.

Any suggestions?
