Hi I have 9100 dimension with media center desktop GeForce 6800 video card, I just purchased a 2005FPW 21" monitor i'm using DVI cable and noticed when i have the resolution set to1680 by1050 and go on web pages they dont fill the screen there only on the left side of the monitor the rest of the page is blank white, the sites dont fill the screen but photos look great. and if i try a smaller resolution my photos looked streached and the page is almost filling the screen. and my video card is compatable with this monitor, has anybody had this problem? thanks
Not sure why you would think a web page should 'fill the screen'. The vast majority don't unless you force them to, and then not in the manner you are expecting. Right now as I post this, if I hit F11 to go full screen, all these boxes and text stay at their current size and move over to the far left of the screen - the rest of the screen being empty white background. That's just The Way It Works unless the website is specifically designed to support being 'maximized'.
As for smaller resolutions getting streached, that can happen too depending on the resolution being chosen and the 'pixel scaling' method you have chosen. I'm assuming you are using recent ForceWare drivers with that GeForce 6800? When you go to Display Properties, Settings and then click on the tab for your video card, what shows up when you choose Digital Flat Panel Settings?
There should be four choices that control how images are scaled to lower resolutions. Click on the "?" near the close box in the upper right-hand corner and then one of the options to see how it works. Lather, rinse, repeat. Monitor Scaling is the default but you may prefer one of the others.
thanks i went to display settings and dont see digital flat panel settings, I do see video overlay settings, and some others as far as the screen size with 1680 by 1050 the web pages are small on the left side and some are less then half the screen size its not to great for viewing.
You might want to upgrade your ForceWare drivers if you are running an older version. The latest ones were released about two weeks ago and are WHQL Certified:
You didn't answer if you are using the ForceWare drivers. If you are, then going to Display Properties / Settings / Advanced should show you another display with several tabs. One of them will have your video card's name on it and when you click it, a display with a sliding menu attached to the left-hand side will pop out. The 'Video Overlay Settings' you mentioned earlier will be one of the items on the menu there. Some of the others will be 'Color Correction', 'Performance & Quality Settings' and... 'Digital Flat Panel Settings' should be right at the top. Select it.
Hi I checked on the left side they give you seven options, and digital flat panal isant there. there is a option at the top under performance & quality settings its multi-GPU thanks
You still haven't answer the question as to what drivers you are using. I can't give you more specific help until you answer that, so... video card driver? Version? For example, I'm using the Nvidia ForceWare drivers that I linked to before, version 81.95... you?
Also answer this - does your computer know what monitor you have? When you go to Display Properties and then Settings does it say "Display: Dell 2005FPW (Digital) on NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT" or something else?
Ok, we're getting closer. That long number is the Video BIOS version, you need to tell me the ForceWare version. Should be two digits, a dot and then two more digits.
