Happen to remember how to get to the service menu? I know I have to hold a button, or..something to that effect, and then push another button. Can't find that post for the life of me

At the very least, the text is clear and I'm not getting any flickering while watching video etc, so maybe that implies something. Need to know how to get to that darn menu >

To enter the service menu, turn the monitor off, hold down the menu button and the + button at the same time, and while you're holding them down, turn the monitor back on. The monitor will take a second longer to come on. Once on, wait a second and then press the - button and the service menu will pop up.

After you click the enter button you should see horrible banding on the white-grey gradient.  If it looks ok then I think it is safe to say you got the new one.  As for what you asked about the dead pixels.  That is mainly just a looking at different full color screens and looking for a blank spot.  Normally a dead pixel is painfully obvious, but the occasional one only shows up in certain colors.  There are tests out there but I cant find my links right now.

Hold down buttons 3 and 5. Press the power button. Once it is on, release buttons 3 and 5 and press the - button.

to check for dead pixels: Dead Pixel Buddy or Checkemon

for banding: gradlin-v0.2-fs.exe or gradlin-v0.3-mix-fs.exe

We were hoping that ChrisM had it wrong and the factory started shipping them already. It's looking like that isn't the case unfortunatly, oh well. I'm on ChrisM's list now I believe, so all is well.


I need to rework my desk setup. My eyes are seriously bleeding. There is no way to describe in words just how huge this thing is. It's massive.

About the pixel crawling, it seems to only occur when I play non native resolution vids in media player classic. I'll test out VLC once I can get it to go away (Have to turn it off and wait a minute). If this is still true of the monitor when I get a fixed version, I'm not sure I can keep it, as this "Dot Crawl" (best way I can describe it) is getting annoying on the eyes

For now I'm going to give dell the benefit of the doubt, and assume that the problems it has are all due to the Farouj chip (Scaling the video up while playing, and then fudging up and trying to scale 1680x1050 signal to 1680x1050 when I exit out of the video. This makes sense in theory)

Update: Tested in VLC, same thing occured. So I can pretty much without a doubt say that this monitor has the old firmware. Looks like the guy on the other thread was full of it. Unless he got the only revised firmware monitor that they shipped , which is doubtfull.

I'm praying that when I get the model with the new firmware, this problem will be solved.

I just wanted to say that after much deliberation I ordered, or I should say as a gift someone ordered for me, the 2007WFP. I realize it probably won't be the fixed version, but I'll let everyone know what my results are when I recieve it.

I was the one deciding between the 2007WFP and the LG L203WT(X). It seemed, that although the LG had a higher contrast ratio and response rate, the Dell had a better image quality and overall performance (except of course for the banding). Plus I heard the LG had a banding issue too and that LG so far hasn't done much to fix it.

I'm really excited to say the least, I'm currently using a Dell E151FP with a response rate of 35ms!! I'm guessing the 2007WFP is going to look gigantic!

Upon checking it's LPL WSXGA LM201W01 and I don't see anything referring to a revision number or anything like that. So I think it's safe to assume that this isn't a monitor with the new firmware. (Can't test DVI right now as my dad and his DVI computer are busy -_-, but over VGA I see absolutely no banding, but that is normal I guess). I have however come across another problem; after a bit of use, the pixels start to shake, I believe the term for this is pixel jitter? Not sure, but it looks like the entire monitor is swimming. Not sure if this is my graphics card or not. Oh and there is one dead pixel, which isn't bad for a monitor of this size. Here's to hoping that the fixed model I recieve doesn't have any

If there is some sub-service menu, other than the menu I'm already on, that shows revision/firmware number, then feel free to tell me about it, but at this point I've got to assume that this has the old firmware.
